Alcano leads RP billiards team to Virginia 9-ball tilt

The 14-man national billiards team is looking to extend its dominancein the prestigious 35th Annual US Open 9-Ball Championship scheduled from October 17 to 23 at the Chesapeake Conference Center in Virginia. No less than former world 9-Ball and 8-Ball champion Ronnie Alcano will be in the forefront when the strong Philippine contingent vies for honor and prize against some of the world’s best cue masters.

RP economy seen to do even better at 8%

THE PHILIPPINE economy is expected to grow by 8 percent this year due to favorable conditions that are seen to benefit emerging markets, according to Barclays.

The international finance institution recently upgraded the country’s growth forecast, a tad higher than the government’s official target.
